No cookies, no tracking on this site

This website does not set any cookies itself and does not use any analytics or tracking services that would require consent. That is why there is no cookie banner.

Hosting and server logs

This website is hosted with Cloudflare, Inc. (101 Townsend St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA) and served as a static site via Cloudflare Workers (Static Assets). When you visit, Cloudflare processes technically necessary connection data (IP address, date and time, requested URL, browser and operating system information) to deliver the site and fend off attacks. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a secure, fast site (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Cloudflare is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework; a data processing agreement with EU standard contractual clauses is in place. We do not store log files ourselves.

Audience measurement (Cloudflare Web Analytics)

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a cookieless audience measurement tool. It sets no cookies, performs no fingerprinting and builds no individual user profiles; it reports aggregated figures such as page views, referrers and load times. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in understanding our reach (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Consent is not required because no information is read from or stored on your device.

Booking links (affiliate)

Our booking links to Booking.com (Booking.com B.V., Amsterdam, Netherlands) are advertising links routed through the affiliate network CJ Affiliate. For the affiliate services described here, CJ's privacy notice for the EU and the United Kingdom names Epsilon International UK Ltd, based in London, as the data controller. When you click, an interstitial page on this website opens first and forwards you. As soon as that interstitial page loads, your browser connects to CJ and Booking.com; technical connection data (in particular IP address and timestamp) is transmitted to both. CJ additionally receives the interstitial page's technical request and may set a cookie or process click data to attribute your booking to the network. Booking.com processes further data only when its destination page is subsequently loaded. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in the remuneration of our site (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). According to CJ, data for these services is also processed outside the EU/EEA and the UK, in particular on servers in the United States; CJ identifies standard contractual clauses as a safeguard. We do not set cookies, run any tracking of our own or store click data; the CJ cookie is set on the CJ domain. For details, see the privacy notices of CJ Affiliate and Booking.com.

Incoming messages are forwarded automatically to a mailbox of the controller and are not stored at Cloudflare. We process your email address and message content on the basis of our legitimate interest in operating the domain (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Transfers to the USA are based on the EU Standard Contractual Clauses and Cloudflare's certification under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
