One point matters more than the walk itself: Terminal 2 has no kerbside of its own. The station, the bus stops, the taxi rank and hotel pickups are all at Terminal 1. If you are staying at a hotel and departing from Terminal 2, allow a few extra minutes.
Key takeaways
- Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 are next to each other; the link between them is on level E0.
- Flughafen BER station is on level U2 beneath Terminal 1, and bus stands A1 to A10 are on arrivals level E0.
- Terminal 2 has no kerbside of its own. For drop-off and pickup, use the short-stay parking at Terminal 1.
- Your terminal is stated on your booking and boarding pass. The allocation changes with the flight schedule.
Terminal 2 has no kerbside of its own
The airport answers this plainly: Terminal 2 has no vehicle kerbside. Anyone being dropped off or picked up uses the short-stay parking at Terminal 1 on departures level E1 or arrivals level E0.
For hotel guests the practical consequence is simple. A taxi, a ride-hailing car or a hotel shuttle drops you at Terminal 1 even when your flight leaves from Terminal 2. You walk the rest. Plan that leg in advance rather than discovering it on the day.

The central marketplace beyond security in Terminal 1 covers around 9,000 m². Terminal 2 has a smaller plaza behind its control point with access to the gate areas. Left luggage and the sleeping cabins are in Terminal 1 as well, on station level U1.
Getting from the station to Terminal 2
If you arrive by S-Bahn, regional train or FEX, you get off beneath Terminal 1. From there you go up to arrivals level E0 and follow the signs to Terminal 2. The airport describes this as a walk of a few minutes.
You will occasionally read that a free shuttle bus runs between the terminals. The airport lists no such bus; it names only the signposted walk. Plan for the walk, not for a ride.
Which terminal applies to your flight
The allocation depends on the airline and the schedule, not on a fixed rule. The airport publishes no permanently valid airline list and points to your booking instead. Three sources are reliable: your booking confirmation, your boarding pass and the departure board on the day. An older terminal note from a blog or forum is not.
In the airport’s self-service overview, individual airlines are assigned to Terminal 2 explicitly. Check the current state on the day anyway, because carriers move between the summer and winter schedules.
What this means for your hotel at BER
Within walking distance of Terminal 1 are the Steigenberger Airport Hotel Berlin at around 50 m and the IntercityHotel Berlin Airport BER Terminal 1+2 at around 300 m. From there you reach both terminals on foot, with a few extra minutes for Terminal 2.
From hotels further out you travel to Terminal 1 first in any case, because that is where the station and the bus stops are. For a departure from Terminal 2, add the walk between the buildings to your plan. How much lead time makes sense overall is covered in Early flight from BER. The routes to the airport are compared in Getting to BER, and for waiting time inside the building see Sleeping at BER airport.
