Which hotel is closest to the terminal?
The Steigenberger Airport Hotel Berlin is closest, about 50 metres from Terminal 1 and connected to it via a covered walkway. The IntercityHotel Berlin Airport BER is also located right next to Terminal 1, just a few minutes' walk away. Both hotels are easily reached on foot, so no shuttle is needed.
Is there a hotel inside the BER terminal?
No, there is no hotel inside the terminal building itself. The closest option is the Steigenberger Airport Hotel, about 50 metres away with a covered walkway to Terminal 1, with the IntercityHotel right next to it. For short rests, Napcabs sleeping pods are available inside Terminal 1 (level U1).
Which hotels at BER offer an airport shuttle?
Only one hotel at BER currently has a clear shuttle connection: Moxy Berlin Airport. Contrary to older listings, the Holiday Inn Berlin Airport - Conference Centre does not run its own shuttle, but offers a pre-bookable taxi transfer from around 17.90 € per person (book 2 hours ahead to the airport, 8 hours ahead on the way back). The hotels directly at Terminal 1 (Steigenberger, IntercityHotel) do not need a shuttle as they are within walking distance. Conditions and schedules change occasionally, so confirm with the hotel before you travel.
What is the cheapest hotel at BER Airport?
The budget chains in and around Schönefeld are usually the cheapest, for example the ibis budget Berlin Airport with rooms from around 50 € or the B&B Hotel Berlin-Airport. These properties are not directly at the terminal but can be reached by S-Bahn or bus in a few minutes. Prices vary considerably depending on season and how far in advance you book.
What is Park, Sleep & Fly and is it worth it?
With Park, Sleep & Fly you book a hotel night together with several days of parking. Directly sourced BER offers cover up to 15 days at Holiday Inn and up to 7 days at IntercityHotel Berlin Airport Area North. A free transfer is not automatically included with these direct offers, and package rates depend on the travel dates. Compare the live package price, including both journeys, with booking the room and parking separately.
When does the first or last train to BER run?
During the day, the FEX airport express, regional trains and S-Bahn lines S9 and S85 connect BER with the city; due to construction work, the FEX runs only about hourly between roughly 4 a.m. and 9 p.m. in 2026. On Friday and Saturday nights, the S9 runs all night at roughly 30-minute intervals. On other nights, night buses N7 (from U Rudow) and N7X (express from Zoologischer Garten, about 2:30 to 3:45 a.m.) take over. Check the VBB (the Berlin-Brandenburg public transport association) journey planner for short-term changes.
How much is a taxi from BER to central Berlin?
Depending on destination and traffic, expect fares from around 55–65 €, for example from about 58 € to Alexanderplatz and about 63 € to Kurfürstendamm; the ride takes roughly 30 to 45 minutes. Berlin's fixed-price taxi scheme for airport trips does not apply from BER, as the airport is located in Brandenburg. The FEX or S-Bahn with an ABC-zone ticket (fare zone covering Berlin plus surroundings incl. BER) is considerably cheaper.
Where can I get breakfast before 5 a.m.?
Regular breakfast buffets at BER hotels usually start between 5 and 6:30 a.m.; the earliest is the Steigenberger Airport Hotel, which serves its buffet from around 5 a.m. on weekdays. For even earlier departures, ask reception for a breakfast to go or packed breakfast; many hotels provide this on request. In addition, some bakeries and cafés in Terminal 1 are open around the clock or from very early in the morning.
Can you rent rooms at BER by the hour (day use)?
Yes. Four Napcabs sleeping pods are in the public area of Terminal 1 on level U1. The night rate from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. is €12 per hour and the day rate €17, billed by the minute. Each booking has a minimum charge of €34 Monday to Saturday and €44 on Sundays and public holidays. Transit passengers must be allowed to enter the public area. Hotel offers vary by date and booking channel; only a confirmation with a time window and total price is binding.
Is the airport still called Schönefeld?
No. The former Berlin-Schönefeld Airport (SXF) was absorbed into Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER) when it opened in October 2020, briefly serving as Terminal 5, which has been closed since February 2021 and permanently decommissioned since 2022. All flights are now handled via BER's Terminals 1 and 2. "Schönefeld" remains the name of the Brandenburg municipality where the airport is located.
Which hotels at BER have family rooms?
The Moxy Berlin Airport, for example, offers family rooms with a queen-size bed and a sofa bed. Many other hotels around the airport can provide extra beds or rooms for three people, and apartment hotels in Schönefeld are an option for longer stays. It is best to confirm occupancy options for children directly with the hotel before booking.
Can you sleep overnight in the BER terminal?
The public areas of BER's terminals are open around the clock. However, the terminal regulations do not state a general right to sleep: sitting or lying in escape routes, on stairs or in front of entrances is prohibited, and staff instructions must be followed. For predictable rest, use a reserved NapCab on level U1 or a confirmed room at a terminal hotel such as the Steigenberger or IntercityHotel.
